Official VMMT-204 Raptors 4th of July commemorative patch set.
Stars, stripes, and Ospreys — the schoolhouse celebrates the 4th from MCAS New River.
Marine Medium Tiltrotor Training Squadron 204 (VMMT-204), the "Raptors," is the U.S. Marine Corps Fleet Replacement Squadron for the MV-22B Osprey, based at Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina under Marine Aircraft Group 26 (MAG-26) and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. VMMT-204 trains every Marine and Navy MV-22 Osprey pilot, crew chief, and maintainer in the use, maintenance, and tactical employment of the tiltrotor — the schoolhouse that feeds the entire VMM operational community across all four Marine Aircraft Wings. The squadron was originally activated on May 1, 1972 as Marine Medium Helicopter Training Squadron 204 (HMT-204) following the post-Vietnam reorganization that combined HMT-401 (CH-46) and HMT-402 (CH-53) into a single composite training squadron. In June 1988, HMT-302 took over CH-53 training; on November 9, 1988 HMT-204 received the Meritorious Unit Commendation; in October 1993, after HMT-301 deactivated, HMT-204 became the sole Fleet Replacement Squadron for the entire CH-46E Sea Knight community; and on June 10, 1999 the squadron was officially redesignated as VMMT-204 with the MV-22B Osprey transition. This 4th of July commemorative patch set is the Raptors' Independence Day calling card — for every instructor pilot, instructor crew chief, FRS student, and maintainer who put in flight time on the 4th out of MCAS New River. Stars and stripes, with the Osprey on top.
Perfect For: VMMT-204 Raptors instructor pilots, instructor crew chiefs, and Maintenance Training Marines, MV-22B Osprey FRS students and graduates, MAG-26 and 2nd MAW personnel, MCAS New River Marines, HMT-204 CH-46E Sea Knight heritage trainers, 4th of July commemorative collectors, and Marine tiltrotor community enthusiasts.
