This VMMT-204 "Raptors" 249th Marine Corps Birthday Ball patch commemorates the squadron's celebration of the 249th anniversary of the founding of the United States Marine Corps on November 10, 1775. The Marine Corps Birthday Ball is the most important social event on every Marine unit's calendar.
VMMT-204 is the Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) for the MV-22B Osprey, based at MCAS New River, North Carolina, as part of MAG-26 under 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. Every Marine MV-22 pilot earns their Osprey qualification through VMMT-204's training syllabus. The 249th Birthday Ball, held in November 2024, continues the Marine Corps' unbroken tradition of celebrating the founding of the Corps with a formal ceremony that includes the reading of General Lejeune's Birthday Message, the cutting of the birthday cake by the oldest and youngest Marines present, and an evening of camaraderie and celebration. This patch marks the Raptors' participation in that time-honored tradition, creating a lasting memento of the 249th celebration.
