VMM-363, the Lucky Red Lions, earned their latest deployment patch as the Aviation Combat Element (ACE) for the Marine Rotational Force-Darwin (MRF-D) 23. Operating MV-22 Ospreys out of Australia as part of the ongoing U.S. force posture in the Indo-Pacific, the Red Lions provided tiltrotor assault support for ground forces rotating through the Top End of Australia. Based at MCAS Kaneohe Bay with MAG-24, the Lucky Red Lions have a long legacy of forward-deployed excellence across the Pacific — and MRF-D is exactly the kind of mission they were built for: expeditionary, multinational, and ready to respond. This patch represents a specific chapter in that legacy, capturing the 2023 Darwin rotation and the Red Lions' role as the tip of the MAW spear in the Pacific.
