VMM-362, the "Ugly Angels," carries one of the most storied names in Marine rotary-wing and tiltrotor aviation. First deployed to South Vietnam in April 1962 as the first Marine aircraft squadron in-country, the Ugly Angels have served continuously through every major conflict from Vietnam to Afghanistan. Reactivated in 2018 as an MV-22B Osprey squadron at MCAS Miramar under MAG-16, the Ugly Angels achieved Full Operational Capability in February 2020 and have since deployed across the Pacific.
