Officially Licensed VMM-264 Black Knights 1964 Throwback Patch — Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264 "Black Knights" MV-22B Osprey MCAS New River 1964-Era Embroidered Throwback Patch

Reactivated and back in the fight — VMM-264 Black Knights, throwback to 1964, MV-22B Ospreys at New River.

Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264 (VMM-264), the "Black Knights," is a USMC MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor squadron based at MCAS New River, North Carolina, under MAG-26 and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. The squadron was originally established on June 30, 1959 at MCAS New River as Marine Helicopter Transport Squadron (Light) 264 (HMR(L)-264), redesignated Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 264 (HMM-264) on February 1, 1962, and finally redesignated Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264 (VMM-264) on May 29, 2009 with its transition to the Bell Boeing MV-22B Osprey. The squadron's first operational use came in fall 1961 for humanitarian evacuation and re-supply following Hurricane Hattie in Belize, and the Black Knights served through the major Cold War events of the era — including the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962) and the Dominican Republic intervention (1964) — followed by multiple Mediterranean Sixth Fleet deployments and a Gulf War tour as a composite squadron with 24th MEU (SOC). Across the unit's history the Black Knights have flown the Sikorsky HUS-1/UH-34 Seahorse through the Vietnam War, the CH-46 Sea Knight from the late 1960s through the late 2000s, and the MV-22B Osprey from 2009 onward. VMM-264 was deactivated on June 24, 2020, but was reactivated on December 11, 2025 at MCAS New River to provide additional assault support capability to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and II MEF in the era of strategic competition. This 1964-era throwback patch references the squadron's Dominican Republic intervention era.

Perfect For: VMM-264 Black Knights active-duty and veteran Marines, MV-22B Osprey pilots, crew chiefs, and maintainers, MCAS New River residents and Eastern North Carolina Marine Corps community, MAG-26 and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing personnel, II MEF and 24th MEU alumni, HMM-264 CH-46 Sea Knight (Phrog) heritage Marines, Hurricane Hattie / Cuban Missile Crisis / Dominican Republic 1964 historians, and reactivation veterans.

Black Knights — reactivated for strategic competition.
