Official VMM-161 Greyhawks Squadron PVC Patches - Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 161 (VMM-161) Greyhawks MV-22B Osprey PVC Patch, MCAS Miramar, California.
Cavalry from the Sky — the Greyhawks carry seventy-plus years of assault support history, a world-first distinction, and the MV-22B Osprey into every patch on this panel.
VMM-161 was commissioned on January 15, 1951, at MCAS El Toro, California, earning the title of the first tactical helicopter transport squadron in the Marine Corps and, by extension, the world. The squadron's motto, Equitatus Caeli, meaning Cavalry from the Sky, has defined its identity across the Korean War, Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and multiple tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In December 2009, the Greyhawks became the first West Coast squadron to transition from the CH-46E Sea Knight to the Bell-Boeing MV-22B Osprey, rewriting West Coast tiltrotor policy and procedures from the ground up. Today the squadron operates under Marine Aircraft Group 16 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at MCAS Miramar, executing assault support transport of combat troops, supplies, and equipment for Marine Air-Ground Task Force operations worldwide. The PVC format captures the Greyhawks insignia with sharp molded detail and field-ready durability, making it a natural fit for flight-line gear, patch panels, shadow boxes, and unit-history displays that need a piece tied to a specific, documented squadron story.
Perfect For: VMM-161 veterans and active-duty Greyhawks, MV-22B Osprey aircrew and maintainers, MAG-16 and 3rd MAW collectors, MCAS Miramar alumni, Marine aviation historians, MEU and MAGTF supporters, deployment keepsake displays, challenge coin and patch boards, shadow boxes, and anyone building a serious Marine Corps aviation collection around the squadron that pioneered West Coast tiltrotor operations and carried the first-in-the-world distinction from Korea through the Osprey era.
The First, The Best — Greyhawks heritage, molded in PVC and built to last as long as the legacy it represents.
