Official VMFA-311 Tomcats Ordnance Patch — Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 311 Ordnance Section Embroidered Patch
Load 'em up — VMFA-311 ordnance keeps the Tomcats armed and dangerous.
Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 311 (VMFA-311), the "Tomcats," is a United States Marine Corps F-35C Lightning II squadron based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, under Marine Aircraft Group 11 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Commissioned on December 1, 1942, as VMF-311 at MCAS Cherry Point, the Tomcats have compiled one of the most distinguished combat records in Marine aviation — flying the first Marine jet combat mission in Korea in 1950, becoming the first squadron to employ the AV-8B Harrier in combat during Desert Storm, and flying the first Harrier combat missions in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. Legendary Tomcat alumni include astronaut and Senator John Glenn and baseball Hall of Famer Ted Williams. Reactivated in April 2023 as the Marine Corps' second F-35C squadron, VMFA-311 declared Initial Operational Capability in July 2024. This ordnance patch honors the Marines who load the weapons, maintain the armament systems, and ensure every Tomcat sortie goes downrange fully armed.
Perfect For: VMFA-311 Tomcats ordnance Marines and aviation ordnance personnel, MAG-11 and 3rd MAW weapons specialists, F-35C Lightning II maintainers, and Marine aviation ordnance patch collectors.
