Official VFA-154 Black Knights Dragon Slayer Patch - Strike Fighter Squadron 154 (VFA-154) Black Knights F/A-18F Super Hornet Official Embroidered Patch, NAS Lemoore, Carrier Air Wing 11.

Black Knights Rule — seven decades of carrier strike identity, from Hellcat decks to Super Hornet flight lines, stitched into one official squadron patch.

VFA-154 traces its lineage to Naval Reserve squadron VFB-718, activated on July 1, 1946, at Naval Air Station Floyd Bennett, New York, flying the F6F Hellcat and F4U Corsair. The squadron flew combat sorties in Korea, transitioned through the F-8 Crusader and F-4 Phantom during Vietnam, and adopted the Black Knights name and iconic armored-knight insignia when the F-8 enabled the Navy's first nighttime carrier operations. That insignia, originally designed by cartoonist Milton Caniff, has remained the squadron's identity ever since. VF-154 became the Navy's first forward-deployed F-14 Tomcat squadron at NAF Atsugi, Japan, and the first Tomcat unit to carry an air-to-ground bombing capability. Redesignated VFA-154 in October 2003, the squadron transitioned to the F/A-18F Super Hornet at NAS Lemoore and went on to log over a thousand combat sorties across Operation New Dawn and Operation Enduring Freedom, while also supporting Operation Tomodachi humanitarian relief after Japan's 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The Dragon Slayer patch variant captures a specific chapter of that combat-ready identity, making it a distinct collectible within the broader Black Knights patch lineage.

Perfect For: Navy strike fighter veterans, VFA-154 alumni and crew, F-14 Tomcat and F/A-18F Super Hornet enthusiasts, Carrier Air Wing 11 collectors, NAS Lemoore community members, deployment shadow boxes, cruise book displays, challenge coin and patch boards, reunion gifts, and anyone building a serious naval aviation collection around one of the most storied carrier squadrons in the Pacific Fleet. It also suits family members, supporters, and historians who want a verified piece tied to the Black Knights' combat record, forward-deployment heritage, and enduring motto.

Black Knights lineage, Dragon Slayer chapter — officially stitched for the collection, the shadow box, and the story behind the callsign.
