Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 74 (HS-74), the Minutemen, was a U.S. Navy Reserve helicopter squadron that operated the H-3 Sea King. The Minutemen maintained combat-ready ASW and search and rescue capabilities with citizen-sailor aircrew, embodying the Revolutionary War spirit of their namesake — ordinary citizens ready to take up arms at a moment's notice. HS-74's Reserve aviators and aircrew trained to the same standards as active-duty squadrons, ensuring they could seamlessly integrate into fleet operations when called upon for mobilization or augmentation.
