Officially Licensed US Navy HM-18 Norsemen Patch — Sea Dragon Minesweepers

The Norsemen of HM-18 hunted mines with Sea Stallions — Viking warriors of the helicopter mine countermeasures community.

Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 18 (HM-18), the Norsemen, was a U.S. Navy helicopter squadron that operated the CH-53 Sea Stallion in the airborne mine countermeasures role. Based at NAS Norfolk, the Norsemen conducted mine detection, classification, and neutralization using specialized towed mine-hunting equipment suspended from their heavy-lift helicopters. Mine countermeasures is one of the most dangerous and demanding missions in naval warfare, requiring precision hovering at low altitude while dragging equipment through mine-infested waters. The Norsemen's Viking identity perfectly matched the courageous spirit required for this hazardous work.

Perfect For: HM-18 Norsemen veterans, CH-53 mine countermeasures crews, AMCM community members, NAS Norfolk helicopter personnel, and Navy helicopter heritage patch collectors.

Norsemen — Viking courage in mine-infested waters.
