Officially Licensed US Navy HM-12 Sea Dragons Patches — Airborne Mine Countermeasures Legends

The Sea Dragons of HM-12 cleared the seas of mines using CH-53s — one of the most dangerous missions in naval aviation.

Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 12 (HM-12), the Sea Dragons, operated the CH-53 Sea Stallion and later the MH-53E Sea Dragon in the airborne mine countermeasures (AMCM) role. HM-12 was a pioneer in the development of helicopter-based mine hunting and mine sweeping techniques, using massive helicopters to tow mine detection and neutralization equipment through contested waters. The AMCM mission required precision hovering at low altitude while dragging heavy equipment — demanding exceptional pilot skill and endurance. The Sea Dragons' work ensured that harbors, sea lanes, and amphibious landing areas were safe for fleet operations.

Perfect For: HM-12 Sea Dragons veterans, MH-53E Sea Dragon crews, AMCM community members, mine countermeasures historians, and Navy heritage patch collectors.
