Official US Army 254th Hel Amb Dust Off Sticker - 254th Medical Detachment (Helicopter Ambulance) DUSTOFF Vietnam-era unit tribute vinyl sticker.
Dedicated Unhesitating Service To Our Fighting Forces — the DUSTOFF callsign carried by the crews of the 254th through some of the most dangerous skies of the Vietnam War.
The 254th Medical Detachment (Helicopter Ambulance) arrived at Tan Son Nhut Airport, Saigon, in November 1965, with some of its pilots immediately working alongside the 57th and 283rd Detachments before the unit became fully operational on February 1, 1966, based at Long Binh adjacent to the 93rd Evacuation Hospital northeast of Saigon. Its primary mission covered the 173rd Airborne Brigade, the 1st Brigade of the 9th Infantry Division, and the 1st Australian Task Force, while also supporting joint Navy operations and Mobile Riverine Forces deep in the Mekong Delta. Crews flew unarmed UH-1 Huey helicopters into contested landing zones, off-loading wounded at facilities like the 7th Surgical Hospital at Cu Chi. Later in the war the detachment redeployed to Nha Trang, extending its reach across II Corps. The detachment's pilots even conducted early night-mission feasibility tests using parachute flares and field radio navigation equipment in the Plain of Reeds. Across the broader DUSTOFF community, air ambulance crews absorbed hostile-fire losses at 3.3 times the rate of all other helicopter missions in the war, and a Dustoff crew member faced roughly a one-in-three chance of being killed or wounded. This sticker carries that weight — a small, durable piece of vinyl that holds a very large story about courage, speed, and the cost of keeping the wounded alive long enough to reach care.
Perfect For: Army medevac veterans, Vietnam War historians, DUSTOFF crew alumni, 173rd Airborne Brigade supporters, 9th Infantry Division collectors, military medical heritage enthusiasts, shadow box displays, veteran tribute boards, reunion gifts, helmet bag stickers, and anyone who wants to honor the pilots, medics, and crew chiefs who flew unarmed into fire to bring soldiers home.
DUSTOFF heritage, carried forward on every mission, remembered on every display.
