Official US Army 178th Chinook Sticker - 178th Assault Support Helicopter Company "Box Cars," U.S. Army Vietnam-era CH-47 Chinook unit, premium vinyl sticker.
Box Cars pride, heavy lift legacy, and the rotor wash of one of Vietnam's most decorated Chinook companies captured in a durable vinyl format.
The 178th Assault Support Helicopter Company was activated at Fort Benning in September 1965 as part of the 10th Aviation Group and deployed to Vietnam, arriving at Vung Tau in March 1967. Flying CH-47 Chinooks under the callsign Box Cars, the unit earned a place in Army aviation history as the first Chinook company in Vietnam to become fully operational with the upgraded B-model airframe and the powerful L-7C engine. The Box Cars were also the first Chinook crew to lift a complete 155mm howitzer, a feat that demonstrated the aircraft's value as a medium-lift workhorse across the I Corps Tactical Zone. Operating out of Chu Lai in support of the Americal Division, the 178th flew resupply missions to remote fire bases, evacuated hundreds of troops during the battle at Kham Duc, and supported units ranging from the 101st Airborne to U.S. Special Forces and the Australian Task Force. The unit earned both the Presidential and Meritorious Unit Citations for its service, and Box Cars veterans have maintained a proud reunion tradition alongside their 132nd ASHC counterparts long after the war ended. This vinyl sticker connects that hard-earned identity to gear, vehicles, display boards, and collections that honor Army aviation history.
Perfect For: Army aviation veterans, CH-47 Chinook crew members and maintainers, Vietnam War historians and collectors, Americal Division alumni, military sticker enthusiasts, shadow box builders, deployment keepsake displays, reunion tables, and anyone preserving the story of Army assault support helicopter operations in Southeast Asia. It also suits family members and supporters who want a clean, durable tribute to the Box Cars crews who kept remote fire bases supplied and troops moving under some of the most demanding conditions of the Vietnam War.
Box Cars heritage, pressed flat and built to last wherever the mission takes you.
