Official US Army 178th AVN Co (ASH) Box Car Sticker - 178th Assault Support Helicopter Company (ASH) Boxcars CH-47 Chinook Vietnam-Era Vinyl Sticker.

Boxcars on the horizon meant heavy lift was coming, and in I Corps, that made all the difference for the men on the ground.

The 178th Assault Support Helicopter Company was activated at Fort Benning in September 1965 and deployed to Vietnam in March 1967, initially basing at Phu Loi before relocating to Chu Lai in January 1968 under the 17th Combat Aviation Group in support of the Americal Division. At one point the unit stood as the only CH-47 Chinook company providing medium helicopter lift across the entire I Corps Tactical Zone, a responsibility that shaped every mission the Boxcars flew. Flying water, rations, howitzers, ammunition, refugees, and riflemen into and out of some of the most contested terrain in Southeast Asia, the company earned its callsign through sheer cargo capacity and relentless operational tempo. The 178th ultimately became the second Chinook company in the entire Army to reach 40,000 flight hours in the CH-47, a milestone that reflects both the scale of the mission and the dedication of the crews and maintainers who kept those aircraft flying. Twenty-two soldiers gave their lives in service with the unit, and Boxcar and Hercules veterans from the 132nd ASHC have carried that shared history forward through joint reunions long after the war ended.

Perfect For: Vietnam War aviation veterans, CH-47 Chinook crew members and maintainers, Americal Division historians, 178th ASHC Boxcar alumni and their families, Army aviation collectors, I Corps campaign researchers, shadow box builders, reunion keepsakes, and anyone preserving the story of medium-lift helicopter operations during the Vietnam War. This sticker also suits military history enthusiasts who want a unit-specific piece tied to a real operational record rather than a generic aviation design.

Boxcar heritage, carried forward on every load, every flight, and every mile of I Corps sky.
