Based at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland, PMA-261 oversees the critical work of keeping these massive aircraft mission-capable through structural upgrades, avionics modernization, and component overhaul programs. The H-53 series — from the CH-53E Super Stallion to the CH-53K King Stallion — is the backbone of Marine heavy-lift aviation, and PMA-261's depot modification work ensures these aircraft can continue hauling heavy loads for decades to come.
