Within each Marine Raider Battalion, four Marine Special Operations Companies carry the mission forward, and Delta Company stands as the fourth of those companies. Each MSOC is built around four fourteen-man Marine Special Operations Teams, giving Delta Company a compact but lethal footprint capable of direct action, special reconnaissance, foreign internal defense, and counterterrorism across any operational environment. MARSOC itself was activated on February 24, 2006, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, drawing its founding personnel primarily from the Force Reconnaissance community before growing into a fully integrated component of U.S. Special Operations Command. In August 2014, the command formally reclaimed the Marine Raider name, connecting today's operators to the World War II Raiders who conducted daring small-unit amphibious operations across the Pacific. Since its first deployment in 2007, MARSOC has logged over 300 operational deployments across thirteen countries, earning more than 300 valor awards along the way. The official license behind this patch means the insignia meets Marine Corps trademark standards, making it a credible piece for any serious unit-history display rather than a generic souvenir.
