Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 26 — the "Patriots" — has been the backbone of Marine aviation logistics since its commissioning in 1952 at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina. Now based at MCAS New River under the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, MALS-26 provides intermediate-level maintenance, supply support, and calibration services for every squadron in MAG-26. The unit has deployed in support of Desert Storm, Operation Sharp Edge in Liberia, Iraqi Freedom, and sustained operations across the globe — earning four MALS of the Year awards from 2nd MAW and a Joint Meritorious Unit Award for combat operations in the Persian Gulf.
