Marine Aircraft Group 16 (MAG-16) is headquartered at MCAS Miramar, California, commanding the heavy-lift and medium tiltrotor squadrons that provide 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and I Marine Expeditionary Force with critical aviation combat power. MAG-16 oversees CH-53E Super Stallion heavy-lift squadrons, MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor squadrons, and their associated logistics and support units. The group is responsible for training, maintaining, and deploying some of the most complex rotary-wing and tiltrotor aircraft in military aviation, ensuring that I MEF always has the vertical lift capability it needs.
