Official Large US Roundel Patch - United States Military Aircraft National Insignia Star and Bars Embroidered Patch, large format.

One emblem, over a century of American airpower identity, stitched in full color and built to display.

The US military roundel traces its origins to May 1917, when the United States adopted its first unified aeronautical national insignia shortly after entering World War I. The design evolved through both World Wars, with the red center circle removed in 1942 to prevent confusion with Japanese markings, and white side bars added in 1943 to improve shape recognition at distance. By January 1947, the familiar red-striped bars bisecting the white bars were introduced, locking in the red, white, and blue color scheme that reflects the American flag and remains the standard today. Commonly called the star and bars or simply the roundel, this insignia has appeared on Army Air Service biplanes, WWII fighters and bombers, Korea-era jets, Vietnam-era attack aircraft, and modern platforms from the F-16 to the F-22. It is one of the most recognized military symbols in the world, carried on wings and fuselages across every theater American airpower has ever entered. The large embroidered format gives the design the scale and thread detail it deserves, making it a strong centerpiece for any aviation display, shadow box, or patch panel.

Perfect For: military aviation collectors, USAF and Navy veterans, WWII history enthusiasts, warbird restoration supporters, museum display builders, shadow box assemblers, patch panel curators, aviation gift buyers, and anyone who wants a clean, authoritative representation of American airpower identity in embroidered form. It also suits families of aircrew, aviation historians, and collectors building displays around specific aircraft types, eras, or campaigns where the roundel served as the mark of American presence in the sky.

Star and bars heritage, stitched large enough to anchor any collection worth building.
