Official HT-28 Hellions Cap - Helicopter Training Squadron 28 (HT-28) Hellions, Training Air Wing Five, NAS Whiting Field, embroidered ball cap.
Lucky callsign, Hellion spirit, and the torch of rotary-wing knowledge carried forward one student aviator at a time.
HT-28 Hellions is a United States Navy helicopter training squadron based at Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, Florida, and one of three advanced helicopter training squadrons producing aviators for the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard under Training Air Wing Five. Established in 2006 to meet growing demand for rotary-wing pilots, the squadron flies the TH-73A Thrasher and also conducts a shortened syllabus for prospective MV-22 Osprey pilots. Its motto, Professionalism, Integrity, and Judgment, defines the standard every student must meet before earning the Wings of Gold. The Hellions name is a deliberate nod to the word helicopter, with the connotation of an unruly student being refined into a disciplined military aviator. The squadron's dragon-and-torch insignia carries a direct lineage to VMF-218, the only other squadron in history to bear the Hellions name, a Marine fighter unit whose alumni included Colonel John Glenn. That heritage gives the HT-28 identity a rare depth that connects modern rotary-wing training to World War II Marine aviation and the early space program. Wearing this cap places that full lineage on your head in a clean, everyday format built for flight lines, reunion weekends, and veteran collections alike.
Perfect For: HT-28 Hellions graduates, student naval aviators, Marine Corps and Navy helicopter pilots, TH-73A Thrasher alumni, Training Air Wing Five veterans, NAS Whiting Field supporters, Wings of Gold recipients, Coast Guard rotary-wing aviators, military aviation collectors, family members of Hellions instructors and students, and anyone who wants a well-researched, unit-specific cap that connects modern helicopter training to a lineage stretching back to VMF-218 and the earliest days of naval rotary-wing aviation.
Hellions heritage, stitched for the crews who carry the torch from Whiting Field to the fleet.
