The Ground Team Air Coordinator (GTAC) is a specialized position within U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Air and Marine Operations (AMO), the largest law enforcement aviation force in the world. GTACs serve as the critical link between AMO aircraft operating overhead and ground-based law enforcement teams executing interdiction, surveillance, and arrest operations along America's borders and in the nation's interior. Working with AMO's fleet of more than 240 aircraft — including UH-60 Black Hawks, AS350 helicopters, P-3 Orions, and unmanned aircraft systems — GTACs coordinate real-time tactical information between aircrews and agents on the ground to detect, track, and interdict illegal border crossings, drug smuggling operations, and other threats to homeland security. This insignia patch represents the GTAC community and their essential role in protecting America's borders from the ground up.
