Official Blue Angels Airframes Shoulder Patch - U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron Airframes Work Center Embroidered Shoulder Patch.
Precision on the ground, perfection in the air — the Airframes team keeps every Blue Angel flying.
The Blue Angels were established in 1946 when Admiral Chester Nimitz ordered the creation of a flight exhibition team to raise public awareness and appreciation of naval aviation. Today the squadron's mission is to showcase the teamwork and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corps through flight demonstrations and community outreach. Behind every show, the Airframes work center — comprising Navy Aviation Structural Mechanics and Marine Corps F/A-18 fixed-wing airframe mechanics — specializes in hydraulics and aircraft structure to keep the jets airshow-ready. Two crew chiefs are assigned to each pilot and are responsible for engine turn-up operations, flight controls and instruments checks, and daily preflight inspections of the aircraft. These sailors and Marines work away from the public eye with the same military precision as the pilots flying 500 mph just 18 inches apart. Based at Naval Air Station Pensacola with winter training at Naval Air Facility El Centro, the Airframes team travels the full show circuit, ensuring the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet jets meet the exacting standards that define every Blue Angels performance. This embroidered shoulder patch honors that unsung, mission-critical role.
Perfect For: Blue Angels Airframes veterans, Navy Aviation Structural Mechanics, Marine Corps F/A-18 airframe mechanics, NAS Pensacola alumni, Blue Angels enlisted team members and supporters, naval aviation collectors, shadow box displays, reunion gifts, flight-line gear, patch boards, and anyone who wants to recognize the ground-level precision that makes the Blue Angels' aerial demonstrations possible. It is especially meaningful for families and fellow maintainers who understand that the show never happens without the crew chiefs, structural mechanics, and hydraulics specialists who sign off on every aircraft before the jets ever leave the ramp.
Airframes pride, stitched for the crew chiefs who make every Blue Angels show possible.
