The 6th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company was established in 2013 under Marine Forces Reserve, with its headquarters at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, making it the newest of the six ANGLICO companies in the Marine Corps. ANGLICO units carry a mission unlike any other in the Marine Corps: to provide MAGTF commanders a liaison capability to plan, coordinate, and conduct terminal control of fires in support of joint, allied, and coalition forces. That means 6th ANGLICO Marines deploy in small, highly trained teams that embed with Army, allied, and coalition units, giving those commanders access to Marine close-air support, naval gunfire, artillery, and rockets they could not otherwise reach. The unit has participated in major joint exercises including Northern Strike, building the interoperability skills that define the ANGLICO community. In 2024, 6th ANGLICO made Marine Corps history when Lt. Col. Candice Creecy became the first female commanding officer of any ANGLICO unit, a milestone that reflects the depth of talent the unit has developed since its inception. An official patch from this unit carries the weight of that specialized lineage, reserve commitment, and the quiet, precise work of Marines who connect ground commanders to fires from the sky and sea.
