Official 2nd Recon Shoulder Patch — The Eyes and Ears of the II Marine Expeditionary Force
Second Recon goes where the enemy doesn't expect and brings back what the commander needs to win.
2nd Reconnaissance Battalion is the ground reconnaissance and surveillance unit of the 2nd Marine Division, based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Recon Marines are among the most physically fit and tactically proficient Marines in the Corps — trained in amphibious reconnaissance, deep reconnaissance, surveillance, and direct action operations behind enemy lines. 2nd Recon Battalion provides the II Marine Expeditionary Force with the ability to insert small teams into denied areas by land, sea, or air to gather intelligence, conduct surveillance of enemy positions, and report back the information that allows Marine commanders to shape the battlefield before the main force arrives. Recon Marines undergo some of the most demanding training in the military, including Basic Reconnaissance Course, Combatant Diver Course, and military free-fall parachute training. The battalion has deployed in every major conflict since the Vietnam War, including Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom, conducting deep reconnaissance and direct action missions that shaped the battlefield for Marine ground forces. This shoulder patch represents the quiet professionals of 2nd Recon — the Marines who go first and see everything.
Perfect For: 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion Marines past and present, Recon community veterans, Camp Lejeune Marines, amphibious reconnaissance and surveillance specialists, and anyone who has earned the right to wear the Recon jack.
