**US Navy Official VA-155 Silver Foxes Sticker — Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**

VA-155 Silver Foxes — the squadron whose CO led Air Wing Two's first strike against Iraq, and whose last combat sortie closed out Desert Storm from the deck of USS Ranger. From the first bomb to the last — that's how the Silver Foxes fight a war.

The VA-155 designation was carried by three separate squadrons over nearly five decades of naval aviation history. The most notable iteration, the "Silver Foxes," was established on 1 September 1987 at NAS Whidbey Island, Washington, flying the A-6E Intruder. Embarked aboard USS Independence, the squadron transited from Norfolk to San Diego via Cape Horn in 1988, conducting airpower demonstrations for South American dignitaries along the way. On 17 January 1991, VA-155's commanding officer, Commander Sweigart, led CVW-2's aircraft in their first strike against Iraq — opening the air war for the entire air wing. The very next day, the squadron suffered its only combat loss when an A-6E Intruder was shot down during a mining sortie near Um Qasr Naval Base. Over 43 days of Gulf War combat, VA-155 flew 635 sorties, logged 1,388 flight hours, and delivered nearly 2.3 million pounds of ordnance. USS Ranger's final combat strike was led by a VA-155 aircraft. The squadron later flew missions supporting Operation Southern Watch over Iraq and Operation Restore Hope in Somalia before being disestablished on 30 April 1993.
