MWSS-174 provides expeditionary airfield operations, engineer support, bulk fuel distribution, motor transport, communications, and ground defense for Marine aviation units. The Centurions can rapidly establish and sustain aviation operating bases from bare ground, providing the critical infrastructure that allows Marine tactical and assault support aircraft to operate from forward locations.
