V-22 Osprey Patch — Embroidered Patch
The Future Arrived
The V-22 Osprey changed the game. Half helicopter, half airplane, entirely Marine — the Osprey gave the Corps a capability that no other service on earth could match. This patch honors the aircraft that rewrote the rules of expeditionary aviation and the Marines who fly, crew, and maintain the most revolutionary military aircraft of the modern era.
The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft that combines the vertical takeoff and landing capability of a helicopter with the speed, range, and altitude of a turboprop airplane. The MV-22B entered operational service with the Marine Corps in 2007, replacing the CH-46 Sea Knight as the medium-lift assault transport. The Osprey can fly twice as fast and three times as far as the helicopter it replaced, fundamentally changing how Marines conduct assault support, casualty evacuation, and tactical logistics. VMM-263 became the first operational Osprey squadron, deploying to Iraq in 2007. Since then, the V-22 has served in every theater where Marines operate, from Afghanistan to the Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East. Despite early controversy, the Osprey has proven itself as an indispensable tool of Marine expeditionary warfare.
