Official MCRD ERR Parris Island Safety Department Patch — Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Embroidered Patch

Safety first at the doorstep of the Corps—MCRD Parris Island Safety Department, ensuring the depot runs safely as it transforms civilians into United States Marines.

Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island is one of only two locations in the United States where Marine Corps recruit training is conducted—the historic island installation near Beaufort, South Carolina, that has transformed millions of civilians into Marines since 1915. Every Marine who enlists east of the Mississippi River reports to Parris Island for 13 weeks of the most demanding basic military training in the American armed forces, emerging as a basically trained Marine ready for further instruction in their military occupational specialty.

The Safety Department at MCRD Parris Island is responsible for ensuring that the depot's training operations, administrative functions, and daily activities are conducted in accordance with safety regulations and best practices. At an installation where thousands of recruits are simultaneously undergoing physical training, weapons qualification, combat training, and field exercises, the Safety Department's mission is critical—preventing accidents, injuries, and hazards that could impact the recruit training mission or the well-being of the depot's permanent personnel and their families.

The Safety Department oversees occupational safety, traffic safety, recreational safety, and safety awareness programs across the depot, conducting inspections, investigations, and training to maintain a culture of safety consciousness that supports the intense training mission. The "ERR" designation refers to the depot's organizational structure, and the Safety Department works in coordination with the depot's medical, training, and command elements to ensure that Parris Island's legendary training standards are maintained without unnecessary risk to recruits and staff.

Perfect For: MCRD Parris Island Safety Department members and veterans, depot permanent personnel, recruit training staff, Parris Island drill instructors, and Marine Corps installation safety professionals.

Safety at the home of Marine making—MCRD Parris Island Safety Department, protecting the Marines and recruits who carry on the tradition of transforming civilians into warriors.
