The squadron's Marines operate approach control, ground control, and departure services at Marine air bases throughout the West Coast, managing the complex traffic patterns created by fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and tiltrotor operations. MATCS-38 also deploys expeditionary air traffic control systems to establish ATC services at forward operating locations.
