Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39 (MALS-39) is the dedicated aviation logistics support squadron for Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California. MALS-39 provides all intermediate-level maintenance, supply support, aviation ordnance, avionics repair, and aircraft component repair for the tiltrotor and helicopter squadrons of MAG-39—including VMM-164, VMM-166, HMLA-267, HMLA-367, and HMH-462—the squadrons that operate the MV-22B Osprey, AH-1Z Viper, UH-1Y Venom, and CH-53E Super Stallion.
The "60C" designation on this patch references the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) system used by the Marine Corps, where the 60XX series encompasses aviation ordnance and related specialties—the Marines who build, handle, load, and maintain the weapons systems that make Marine aircraft lethal.
