Marine Air Base Squadron 12 served as the base operations element of MAG-12, providing airfield services, aircraft rescue and firefighting, aviation fuels, motor transport, communications, and base security. Whether operating from permanent facilities at Iwakuni or establishing expeditionary airfields in combat zones, MABS-12 Marines ensured that MAG-12's tactical squadrons had everything they needed to fly and fight. The squadron's legacy of Pacific service spans World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and decades of forward deployment in Japan.
