MABS-11 provided the essential base operations and services that allowed MAG-11 to focus on its combat mission. From flight line operations to crash rescue, from communications to security, MABS-11 Marines were the ones who made the air station work. This officially licensed patch honors that critical but often invisible mission.
Marine Air Base Squadron 11 served as part of MAG-11, providing the base operating support functions essential to Marine aviation. The squadron's Marines were responsible for airfield operations, aircraft rescue and firefighting, aviation fuels, ground electronics maintenance, motor transport, and base defense. MABS-11 deployed alongside MAG-11 to Vietnam and subsequent operations, establishing and maintaining the operating bases from which Marine tactical aircraft projected power. Their legacy continues in the wing support squadrons that carry on their mission today.
