The Lockheed Martin KC-130 Hercules has served as the Marine Corps' multi-mission tactical tanker and transport aircraft for over six decades. Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadrons (VMGR) operate the KC-130J Super Hercules, providing aerial refueling for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, tactical airlift of troops and cargo, and a growing list of specialized missions including Harvest HAWK close air support. The KC-130's ability to refuel helicopters and tiltrotors in flight has been critical to extending the range and endurance of Marine aviation assets in every theater of operations. From Vietnam through Desert Storm, Iraq, Afghanistan, and into the Pacific, the Herc has been the backbone of Marine aviation logistics — the aircraft that makes every other mission possible.
