USMC HMLA-367 Scarface Night Fighters Patch — USMC Embroidered Patch

Scarface Night Fighters — Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367

HMLA-367 "Scarface" traces its lineage to Marine Observation Squadron 351 (VMO-351), activated on 1 December 1943 at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. One of the longest-serving and most decorated light attack helicopter squadrons in the Marine Corps, Scarface has fought in every major American conflict from World War II to Afghanistan, earning a reputation as one of the Corps' most lethal rotary-wing units.

Reactivated during the Vietnam War as VMO-3, the squadron deployed to South Vietnam in December 1966 with UH-1E Hueys, providing direct support to the 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions across I Corps. Redesignated HML-367 in March 1968, the squadron adopted the legendary "Scarface" callsign and became the first operational Cobra squadron in the Marine Corps when it began flying the AH-1G in December 1969. During the Gulf War, Scarface arrived in Saudi Arabia as the first operational Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron in theater, recording the first Iraqi tank kill by an AH-1W Super Cobra during the Battle of Al Elbow on 30 January 1991. The squadron's combat tally included 48 tanks, 24 armored personnel carriers, and 23 other vehicles destroyed—more confirmed kills than any other squadron during Desert Storm.

Scarface deployed three times to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, supporting the 1st Marine Division during the Battle of Fallujah. In 2009, the squadron made the first combat deployment of the UH-1Y Venom to Afghanistan, simultaneously supporting seven infantry battalions in Helmand Province. After a brief decommissioning in April 2022 under Force Design 2030, HMLA-367 was reactivated on 16 December 2022 at MCAS Camp Pendleton under MAG-39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.

Perfect For: Veterans of HMLA-367/HML-367/VMO-3, AH-1 and UH-1 aircrews, Marines of MAG-39 and 3rd MAW, Gulf War and OIF/OEF rotary-wing veterans, and collectors of iconic Marine attack aviation insignia.

This Night Fighters patch celebrates Scarface's unmatched combat legacy—from the skies over Peleliu to the deserts of Kuwait and the mountains of Afghanistan.
