HC-9 operated various helicopter types throughout its service, providing the Pacific Fleet with critical rotary-wing support capabilities. The Protectors' mission was inherently humanitarian and operational — rescuing downed aviators, delivering critical supplies to ships at sea, and transporting personnel in time-sensitive situations. HC-9's legacy lives on in the helicopter sea combat community that inherited its fleet support mission.
