H&MS-36 — USMC Embroidered Patch
Futenma's Maintenance Force
H&MS-36 has been the logistical backbone of Marine rotary wing operations in the Western Pacific for over seven decades. From the rice paddies of Vietnam to the flight line at Futenma, this squadron has kept MAG-36's helicopters and tiltrotors mission-ready across every theater. This officially licensed patch represents that enduring commitment.
Activated at MCAF Santa Ana in June 1952, H&MS-36 sailed for Vietnam in August 1965 with MAG-36 aboard the USS Princeton. Operating from Chu Lai, Ky Ha, and Phu Bai, the squadron supported numerous combat operations including Dewey Canyon and the Battle of Hue City, maintaining six different aircraft types: CH-46, CH-53, UH-1, AH-1, OV-10, and KC-130. After more than four years in Vietnam, H&MS-36 relocated to MCAS Futenma, Okinawa. Redesignated as MALS-36 in 1988, the unit has supported humanitarian operations including Operation Sea Angel, Operation Restore Hope in Somalia, and tsunami disaster relief while continuing to keep MAG-36 combat-ready.
Perfect For:
H&MS-36 and MALS-36 veterans, MAG-36 Marines, MCAS Futenma community, 1st MAW maintenance personnel, and WestPac deployment veterans.
