Force Logistics Support Group Alpha Patch — Embroidered Patch
FLSG Alpha — Force Logistics Support Group Alpha
In the northern reaches of I Corps, where the 3rd Marine Division fought the heaviest battles of the Vietnam War, Force Logistics Support Group Alpha kept the ammunition flowing, the trucks rolling, and the casualties moving to aid stations. This patch carries the identity of the forward logistics arm that sustained Marines on the cutting edge of combat.
Force Logistics Support Group Alpha (FLSG-A) was one of two major subordinate commands of Force Logistics Command during the Vietnam War. Operating from forward positions in the Da Nang area, FLSG-A was task-organized to provide direct logistic support to the operating forces of III Marine Amphibious Force, including supply, maintenance, motor transport, medical, and engineering support. The group maintained Logistic Support Units at forward combat bases, each staffed with officers and enlisted Marines who drew rations, fuel, and ammunition from FLC for issue to the infantry battalions they supported. FLSG-A worked alongside the 1st and 3rd Service Battalions, sustaining Marines across the northern tactical areas of responsibility during some of the war's most intense fighting. When the 3rd Marine Division redeployed in November 1969, FLSG-A was deactivated and its missions were absorbed by FLSG-Bravo.
Perfect For: FLSG-A veterans, Force Logistics Command personnel, Vietnam-era logistics Marines, 3rd Marine Division support veterans, and anyone who honors the supply Marines who kept the front lines fed and armed.
Forward logistics. Forward support. FLSG Alpha.
