Marine Forces Pacific is the largest field command in the Marine Corps — the headquarters responsible for all Marine forces in the vast Pacific theater from the West Coast of the United States to the shores of Asia. Marine Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) is headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii, and exercises operational control over I and III Marine Expeditionary Forces and their subordinate units stationed from Camp Pendleton, California, to Okinawa, Japan, and beyond. MARFORPAC is the Marine Corps' component command to United States Indo-Pacific Command, responsible for providing trained and ready Marine forces for operations throughout the world's largest theater. The Pacific has been the Marine Corps' primary area of operations since World War II, and MARFORPAC maintains the forward-deployed and forward-engaged posture that allows Marines to respond to crises anywhere in the region within hours.
