Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, Florida has carried the title of the world's most efficient naval air complex since it was commissioned in July 1943, and it remains one of only two primary pilot training bases operated by the U.S. Navy. Home to Training Air Wing Five, the station trains student naval aviators from the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, and allied nations, with primary fixed-wing students flying the T-6 Texan II from North Field and advanced helicopter students flying the TH-73A Thrasher from South Field. The station accounts for an estimated 46 percent of the Chief of Naval Air Command's total flight time, making it the busiest naval air station in the world.
