The Boeing EA-18G Growler is the United States Navy's airborne electronic attack platform, designed to disrupt and destroy enemy radar and communications systems. Based on the proven F/A-18F Super Hornet airframe, the Growler carries the AN/ALQ-99 and next-generation AN/ALQ-249 jamming pods that give it the ability to suppress enemy air defenses across the full electromagnetic spectrum. The aircraft is operated exclusively by Navy Electronic Attack Squadrons, from VAQ-129 — the fleet replacement squadron — through the operational squadrons that deploy aboard carriers worldwide. Behind every successful Growler sortie is a team of maintainers who ensure the aircraft's complex electronic warfare systems are functioning perfectly, because in the electronic attack mission, a grounded jet means the fleet loses its invisible shield.
