USS Sanctuary (AH-17) was a Haven-class hospital ship that served the Navy from 1944 through 1971. The ship provided medical care during World War II and was reactivated for service during the Vietnam War, where Sanctuary treated thousands of wounded Marines and soldiers off the coast of Vietnam. The ship's medical staff performed surgeries and provided critical care in a floating hospital that could reach casualties faster than shore-based facilities.
