The Pacific Missile Range, headquartered at Point Mugu, California, provided the instrumented overwater range complex for testing and evaluating Naval weapons systems. The range supported the development of surface-to-air missiles, cruise missiles, air-to-air weapons, and other advanced systems that have become essential to Naval warfare. The PMR's vast Pacific test area allowed full-scale weapons testing under realistic conditions.
