MCAS Futenma is the forward-deployed heart of Marine rotary wing and tiltrotor aviation in the Western Pacific. From this airfield in the middle of Ginowan City, Okinawa, Marine helicopters and Ospreys project power across the Indo-Pacific theater. This officially licensed patch represents every Marine who has served at one of the most strategically important air stations in the world.
Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, located in Ginowan City, Okinawa, Japan, serves as the base for Marine Aircraft Group 36 and the rotary wing and tiltrotor squadrons of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. The air station hosts MV-22B Ospreys, CH-53E Super Stallions, and other aircraft that provide the III Marine Expeditionary Force with assault support, heavy lift, and aerial mobility across the Pacific. Futenma has been operational since 1945 and remains one of the most strategically vital Marine installations in the Indo-Pacific.
