Southwest Asia Service Patch — Embroidered Patch

Desert Shield and Desert Storm

The Southwest Asia Service Medal recognizes military service in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm — the campaigns that liberated Kuwait and demonstrated American military dominance to the world. This patch honors every service member who deployed to the Persian Gulf region during the 1990-1991 crisis.

The Southwest Asia Service Medal was established on March 12, 1991, to recognize members of the United States Armed Forces who served in the Southwest Asia Theater of Operations during the period of August 2, 1990, through November 30, 1995. The medal bears campaign stars for participation in the three phases of the campaign — Defense of Saudi Arabia, Liberation and Defense of Kuwait, and Southwest Asia Ceasefire. The Gulf War was the first major American military operation since Vietnam, and its swift, decisive outcome restored public confidence in the armed forces. Over 697,000 Americans served in the theater, and this medal is their recognition.

Perfect For:
Desert Shield and Desert Storm veterans, Gulf War service members, Southwest Asia Service Medal holders, 1990-1991 deployment veterans, military campaign collectors, and Gulf War commemorators

The desert. The storm. The victory.
