This patch carries the Indianhead insignia as worn by the regiment's logistical backbone.
Supply Company, 6th Marines, operated in the dangerous space between the rear areas and the front lines, running supply trains through terrain devastated by four years of war. During the three-week Battle of Belleau Wood, maintaining the flow of ammunition to the rifle and machine gun companies was critical — the intensity of the fighting consumed supplies at a rate that strained every logistical system. Supply Marines moved through gas-contaminated areas, cratered roads, and under direct artillery fire to keep the 6th Marines in the fight through Belleau Wood, Soissons, Blanc Mont, and the Meuse-Argonne.
