USMC 4th MARDIV Patch — Embroidered Patch
The Fighting Fourth — Citizen Marines Ready for War
The 4th Marine Division carries a dual legacy that makes it unique in the Corps — a devastating World War II combat record forged across four major Pacific campaigns, and a modern identity as the Marine Corps Reserve's premier ground combat division, standing ready to augment active forces whenever the nation calls.
Activated on August 14, 1943, at Camp Pendleton, the 4th Marine Division deployed directly into combat, fighting at Roi-Namur in the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima in the span of just 13 months — four major amphibious assaults earning two Presidential Unit Citations. The division's combat record in World War II was exemplary, and its members earned multiple Medals of Honor across those brutal Pacific campaigns. Deactivated after the war, the Fighting Fourth was reborn in 1966 as a reserve division headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. Today, 4th MARDIV units are spread across the United States, providing trained reserve Marines who have deployed to Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan, proving that citizen Marines can fight alongside their active-duty brothers with distinction.
Perfect For:
Reserve Marines who served with 4th MARDIV, WWII Pacific veterans and their families, Marine Forces Reserve personnel, Iwo Jima and Saipan battle historians, and anyone who believes that being a reservist doesn't mean being second-string.
Citizen Marines by choice, warriors by nature — the Fighting Fourth.
