3rd Transportation Support Battalion provides throughput and distribution of supplies, personnel, and equipment, as well as medium and heavy motor transport support to III Marine Expeditionary Force. Based on Okinawa, Japan, the battalion operates as part of the 3rd Marine Logistics Group (formerly 3rd FSSG), the logistics combat element of the nation's only permanently forward-deployed Marine expeditionary force. The battalion's Marines drive the trucks, operate the landing support equipment, manage the supply distribution points, and handle the cargo that sustains the 3rd Marine Division, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, and all supporting units across the Indo-Pacific theater. Whether supporting humanitarian assistance operations, joint exercises with allied nations, or forward deployment operations, 3rd TSB ensures that the combat power of III MEF is sustained wherever it's needed.
