USMC 3rd Force Service Support Group Patch — USMC Embroidered Patch
Forward Deployed, Forward Sustained — 3rd Force Service Support Group
In the western Pacific, where the Marine Corps maintains its forward edge against any threat, 3rd FSSG was the logistics backbone that kept III Marine Expeditionary Force ready to fight on a moment's notice. This patch carries the identity of the support group that sustained Marines across the Indo-Pacific for decades.
3rd Force Service Support Group (3rd FSSG) was based on Okinawa, Japan, and served as the logistics combat element of III Marine Expeditionary Force. The unit's lineage traces back to the 3rd Force Service Regiment, which supported Marine operations on Okinawa and throughout the western Pacific. 3rd FSSG provided the full spectrum of combat service support — supply, maintenance, transportation, engineering, medical, and dental services — to the 3rd Marine Division, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, and all other III MEF units. The group maintained readiness to deploy logistics elements on short notice across the vast Indo-Pacific theater, from the Philippines to Korea to Australia. On 21 October 2005, 3rd FSSG was redesignated as 3rd Marine Logistics Group (3rd MLG), continuing its mission of sustaining the nation's only permanently forward-deployed Marine expeditionary force from its base on Okinawa.
Perfect For: 3rd FSSG and 3rd MLG veterans, Okinawa-based Marines, III MEF logistics personnel, western Pacific support Marines, and anyone who knows that forward presence requires forward sustainment.
Forward deployed. Forward sustained. 3rd FSSG.
