Officially Licensed USMC 3/2 Marines Patch - 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines (3/2) Betio Bastards Officially Licensed USMC Embroidered Patch.
We quell the storm, and ride the thunder — the Betio Bastards carry one of the most battle-tested names in Marine Corps infantry history.
3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines is a light infantry battalion assigned to the 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The battalion earned its nickname, the Betio Bastards, at the Battle of Tarawa in November 1943, when Marines of 3/2 stormed Red Beach 1 on Betio Island under withering Japanese fire. An unexpected low tide grounded landing craft on the reef, forcing Marines to wade hundreds of yards through chest-deep water into machine gun fire — a moment that defined the battalion's identity for generations. After Tarawa, 3/2 fought at Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa before the end of World War II. In the modern era, the battalion deployed as part of Task Force Tarawa during Operation Iraqi Freedom, fought in the Battle of Nasiriyah, and later conducted combat operations in Al Anbar Province including Operations Matador and Spear along the Euphrates River Valley. The battalion also served in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and humanitarian relief operations in Haiti. This officially licensed embroidered patch captures that full weight of service and sacrifice in a durable, display-ready format suited for shadow boxes, gear, jackets, and unit-history collections.
Perfect For: 3/2 Marines veterans, Betio Bastards alumni, 2nd Marine Division collectors, 2nd Marine Regiment infantry personnel, Camp Lejeune Marines, Task Force Tarawa historians, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom veterans, family members honoring a Marine's service, shadow box builders, and serious USMC patch collectors seeking officially licensed battalion insignia with verified combat lineage.
