USMC 1st Combat Engineer Battalion Patch — USMC Embroidered Patch

The Super Breed — 1st Combat Engineer Battalion

They blow the obstacles. They breach the minefields. They build the bridges and fortifications that keep Marines moving forward and alive. 1st Combat Engineer Battalion is the tip of the spear's engineering edge — and they've been doing it since before Pearl Harbor. This patch carries the identity of one of the most decorated combat support units in the Marine Corps.

Activated on 24 February 1941 at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as the 1st Pioneer Battalion, the unit was a specialized formation designed to conduct shore party operations during amphibious assaults and provide close combat engineer support to Marine infantry. The battalion fought on Guadalcanal, New Britain, Peleliu, and Okinawa in World War II. During the Korean War, engineers built roads and bridges in sub-zero temperatures at the Chosin Reservoir, enabling the 1st Marine Division's legendary fighting withdrawal. In Vietnam, the battalion supported the 1st, 5th, and 7th Marines from 1965 to 1971 — and it was during Operation Starlite in August 1965 that Sgt. Robert E. O'Malley earned the first Marine Corps Medal of Honor of the Vietnam War while serving with the engineers. Nicknamed "The Super Breed," 1st CEB has since deployed to Desert Storm, Somalia, Iraq, and Afghanistan, providing mobility, countermobility, and survivability support to the 1st Marine Division from Camp Pendleton, California.

Perfect For: 1st CEB veterans, combat engineers, 1st Marine Division personnel, explosive breaching specialists, and anyone who respects the Marines who clear the way.

The Super Breed. First in the breach.
